Our story

A community that kept coming back to the table.

KurdSoftware is a long-running, peer-led community for Kurdish software engineers, students, and builders.

Before the weekly call

Our roots reach back to open software gatherings held in Sanandaj around 2013–14. People met in local companies, cafés, and public spaces to talk about software, exchange experience, and help one another move forward.

The KurdSoftware Telegram group followed in June 2015 and became an enduring home for that conversation. As people moved and circumstances changed, physical meetings became online calls. Activity rose and fell, but the relationships and the habit of sharing knowledge remained.

From the archive

The early community took shape around shared tables: informal sessions, practical workshops, tea, notebooks, and long conversations.

The thread so far

  1. Open gatherings in Sanandaj

    Informal meetings for software practitioners, students, and anyone curious about technology.

  2. A shared online home

    The Telegram group carried the conversation between meetings and across distance.

  3. Weekly online calls

    The open software gatherings moved online, making the table easier to reach.

  4. A new recorded series

    Weekly calls returned with lightweight public notes so useful ideas could travel further.

Our conversations naturally move between Kurdish, Persian, and English. Shared curiosity matters more than perfect language, job titles, or credentials.

Who is the table for?

Students, working engineers, founders, educators, researchers, and curious builders are all welcome. Bring a question, a hard-won lesson, work in progress—or simply come to listen.

What we talk about

Software engineering, products, careers, books, open source, artificial intelligence, and the practical work of making technical knowledge available in Kurdish.

Informal by design

KurdSoftware is not a formal institution or a stage for experts. Sessions are peer-led, practical, and shaped by the people who show up. We publish concise notes, not private conversations.
